SCOTT McDOUGALL is a California based artist, illustrator, gentleman farmer and surfer.
He spent many years in advertising as an illustrator in Seattle, Washington where he was most famous for his airbrush work and lettering. Scott’s perfectly detailed work has graced many Grateful Dead projects as well as various posters and advertising gigs.
Much of his inspiration came from his love of psychedelia which then lead him to dealing in the sale of flyers, posters and artworks by the famed Victor Moscoso, Rick Griffin, Stanley Mouse and Wes Wilson.
In 2015, Scott wrote, compiled and published the limited edition book Split Fountain Hieroglyphics: Psychedelic Concert Posters from the Seattle Area, 1966-1969. The book has since sold out so if you are lucky enough to find a copy second-hand it’s worth putting up some hard scratch for it, whatever the cost.
